This is my favourite scene girl. Audrey Kitching is a 22 year old girl who is probably the most famous and recognized scene queen of all time. She has neon pink hair and some black bits under. Let me start off by saying I have no clue what this whole scene thing is. I’m 21 and I don’t live in a hole in the ground but I have no clue who all these girls are and why they are popular. I was watching the video for Superchrist by the Smashing Pumpkins (being an avid fan since I was nine and kind of disappointed in the bands demise and current state…but that’s besides the point) and in the information column next to the video had the names Sasha Grey, Linda Strawberry, Hanna Beth, and Kristin Burns. I had no clue who on earth these girls were and why they were being presented as being “featured” in the video as if they were really valuable assets to a music video for the Pumpkins. So, I start looking these people up and Sasha is a porn star, Kristin is a photographer and Linda is a singer. Okay, but what the heck do Audrey and Hanna do besides model?!? So, I googled them and they came up as basically only being “scene queens” which lead to my discovery of people like Kiki Kannibal and her sister. So, I guess what I’m trying to get at is why are these girls worshiped and idolized. Besides modeling (or what seems for the most part to be taking pictures and videos of themselves rather than working for companies and being seen as a professional model) and I suppose kind of running a business (those bats and diamonds things that I’ve seen but never thought anyone would pay 70 dollars for), what do they do? How do these girls get so popular and recognized (on the internet anyway) for what seems to be absolutely nothing of great value? I’m so confused…..

Well despite all the hate comments, I love Audrey. She’s beautiful, independent, and unique. She is self-starting a buisness, and has become an icon for a fashion she had no intention of starting. Its true, Audrey does NOT consider herself ‘scene’. Many interviewers have asked her and she said no. The whole style basically spouted from her a few others and Audrey herself didn’t even know what ‘scene’ style was for awhile till she went and looked it up. Amazing isn’t it? She absolutely my idol, even though I have no intention of following this style personally.
